Ayurvedic Vision for the Human Body

Definition and types of Human body in Ayurveda

Every human body has different elements that help them move across the path of good health and vitality. The conception of Ayurveda comprises theories that state the genesis of the human body and how it becomes a victim of the severity of ailments.

However, according to the ancient Ayurveda, mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing are constituted by the three-body principles. The unification of these three principles is found in every human body.

The focal point is that the three principles that handle the internal management and behaviour of the human body are Vata, Pitta and Kapha. The physical entity is an amalgamation of doshas, dhatus and malas. One or two doshas governs the unique constitution predominantly to each individual in this universe. However, Ayurveda is the only science that depicts the definition of a physical entity uniquely.

The bottom line is that every person’s ayurvedic constitution can majorly be either of these doshas or a unified condition of two doshas like Vata and Pitta, Kapha and Pitta or Vata and Kapha.

Let’s go deep within these three doshas to know the actual definition of our existence on the earth.

Understanding Tridoshas

  • Kapha (Water-earth)

This dosha is responsible for governing the entire structure and lubrication within the mind and body. It is the holder of cells altogether and forms the muscle, bone, fat and sinew. Kapha manages the weight, growth, and lubrication for the joints, lungs, and the formation of the whole seven tissues: nutritive fluids, blood, fat, muscles, bones, marrow, and reproductive tissues. It assists in boosting and guiding the excellent health and vitality of the immune system, which is the shield of the human body. But the vision of Kapha doshas can result in the arrival of health issues such as being overweight, oversleeping, and medical conditions such as diabetes, asthma and depression also invade the functional system of the human body.

  • Pitta (Water)

The pitta dosha has command over digestion, metabolism and energy production. The principal function of Pitta is transformation. People who belong to the Pitta principle have a flaming nature that displays in the body and mind. The ones that belong to the pitta dosha have a gleaming complexion, perfect digestive system, ample energy and a strong appetite. Imbalanced Pitta can cause skin rashes, burning sensations, excess body heat, heartburn, peptic ulcers, and indigestion.

  • Vata (air-earth)

The Vata dosha is the whole management of mind and body. The fact that makes Vata dosha is a predominant force is that it controls the blood flow, elimination of wastes and harmful toxins, breathing and thinking abilities which include the flow of thoughts to the mind. The Vata dosha can be stated as a sponge as it soaks the stress and brings the creative side out. The vitiation of Vata dosha can cause you to lose liveliness, enthusiasm and energy. In simple words, it means that the imbalance Vata dosha can pull the quality out of life. It also manifests the problems such as constipation, hypertension, fatigue, digestive challenges and restlessness.

Herbs: A bridge between nature and Ayurveda

As stated in the previous blog of the series, we learnt that according to Ayurveda, a person could acquire excellent health if he is in touch with nature; a man living in harmony with nature is an embodiment of health. When a disease invaded the territory of health, the harmony experienced obstructions to interconnect with each other. Ayurveda has acquired identity and has marked its existence with its theories. One element that defines the uniqueness of Ayurveda is the knowledge of herbs.

Herbs are a prominent part of Ayurveda, and they are the bridge that connects Ayurveda and nature. Despite being an ancient medical system. Ayurveda hasn’t changed its sources, roots and objectives. The natural healing system of Ayurveda still comprises the authenticity of herbs and maintains this connection with nature without undergoing any changes brought by the generation. Generations have gone by, but Ayurveda still manages the connection with nature.

Rishis and sages believed herbs as the solution to cure a series of health issues and diseases. The studies and analysis, along with the experiments on these herbs, depict the accuracy of the medicinal ethics of these herbs and their efficiency in dealing with a string of ailments and diseases. Due to the natural healing capabilities of herbs, they are free of side effects and do not cause any complications that hamper the state of the human body.

Ayurvedic medications are formulated with herbs and other medicinal plants with a pinch of oils and common spices. With the amalgamation of several kinds of plants and herbs, one can acquire relief from the issues that the body is facing. The herbal management of Ayurveda has changed many people’s views regarding the medical system as Ayurveda defies the use of machines, drug or supplement-based medications. However, Ayurveda accounts for the maximum uses in the medical system. Ayurvedic practitioners are the ones that bring the authenticity and efficiency of herbs to us. However, herbs play an effective and positive role and work towards the betterment of the human body’s mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing.

Kidneys are another part of the human body, and the disease associated with them needs proper care and management. However, herbs play a vital role in the ayurvedic system, and a small herb can help manage the significant roles of the kidney. Kidney treatment in Ayurveda manages the progression and treats the disease using herbal medications.

Apart from the timely cure, herbal medications are also renowned for providing permanent relief from disease by eliminating the metabolic toxins from the body.

In this section, we explored the science of Ayurveda regarding the human body and went deep within the interconnection between health and nature. We learnt that herbal management is the crucial ayurvedic mode of treatment that is efficient and permanent.
